Abstract
Manado has a historical background and attachment to European nations because Europeans once colonized Manado land which makes Manado language rich in new vocabulary borrowed from Europeans called borrowing words. This research aims to record the borrowing words with the process of word formation and semantic changes after being borrowed into the Manado Malay language. The steps taken in this research are identifying by recording the absorption vocabulary which is then verified by Klabat Village speakers in Manado Malay. The verification results were compared with the Manado Malay vocabulary. The result of the research found 104 borrowing words namely Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and English from the four languages the Dutch language is more absorbed into Manado Malay than from the other three languages. And in the process of word formation Derivation prefix as many as 3 words, and Clipping 11 words. Then 30 words experienced semantic changes, 53 words did not experience semantic changes, 18 words had different meanings from the original language and found 3 words were only taken as their own meaning from the recipient language.
