Abstract
This research discusses the main character's struggle to reveal the truth about the abuse experienced by his child in the novel Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult. This research focuses on Nina's efforts to fight for justice for her child who had experienced sexual harassment by someone. The researcher used a descriptive-qualitative method, namely data was collected from the main reference, namely from the novel itself by taking quotations in the form of dialogue or narrative that are relevant to the topic raised. The approach used in this research is the structuralism approach. Structural approach is an intrinsic approach, namely discussing the work on elements that build literary works from within. The approach examines literary work as an autonomous work and regardless of the social, historical, biography of the author and everything outside the literary work. In the results of this analysis, the author found that there were two types of struggle carried out by Nina, namely fighting for justice for her child and trying to get her child to talk. There are also impacts experienced by Nina in her struggle, namely misunderstanding and imprisonment. The results of the research show that, a woman's struggle is so great for the people she loves, especially when she has become a mother, of course she will do anything to protect and defend her child when problems happen to her child. Nina experiences various difficulties in dealing with the problems that befell her child, however, Nina is a character who will never back down from a struggle even if her life is at stake. Sexual harassment is an act that violates norms, whether religious, legal or immoral. The harassment that occurred to Nathaniel's character was a scratch on his anus. He got the scratches from a priest who had abused him. The actions carried out by the pastor were driven by several factors external .The external factor that influenced him to do this was environmental factors, where the victim and perpetrator often met because the victim was a student at one of the weekly schools where the perpetrator worked. This incident had an impact on the victim's mental and physical condition. One of the psychological impacts experienced by victims is trauma. Apart from the victim, his mother, Nina, or the main character in the novel, also experienced the impact of what happened to her child. Keywords: Struggle, Misunderstanding, Imprisoned
