Abstract
This research discusses the exploitation of children in the novel "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens based on marxism theory, which focuses on the exploitation of children experienced by the main character and the factors causing exploitation during the industrial revolution in England. This research uses a method that refines the analysis in detail as a research method, namely qualitative descriptive method, the researcher raises various aspects with the main point of criticism of capitalism to analyze child exploitation and factors of exploitation. From this research, it is found that the exploitation experienced by the main character such as child labor where children like Oliver, are used as cheap labor at a very easy age and are employed in dangerous types of work and also criminalization of children where there is abuse of children in committing illegal acts and some of the factors that cause exploitation of children found by researchers are social inequality, poor children like Oliver face sharp social inequalities, they live in extreme poverty without access to education or basic needs and there are also legal injustices such as the legal system and social policies that do not favor poor children. They are often treated harshly and unfairly by authorities. keyword: child exploitation, capitalism, industrial revolution, marxism, child labour
