Abstract

This research is entitled Language Variations in a Gender Perspective in Nggele Village, Taliabu Barat Laut District. The purpose of this research is to find out what factors cause variations in the language of men and women in society, based on a gender perspective, and to analyze how the patterns of communication are used by men and women among speakers of Butonese in Nggele Village. , Taliabu Barat Laut District, in the context of everyday life. The data taken in this study were the oral utterances of the Butonese people using a descriptive qualitative method which was directed as a problem solving procedure. Data was collected using observation techniques, interviews, surveys and questionnaires, and documentation. The results of this study concluded that the language variation that occurred in Nggele Village was caused by a multilingual community, this situation was motivated by people from various regions giving rise to heterogeneous and multilingual communities. Based on the results of the research formulated in the previous chapter, it can be concluded that the factors that influence the language variation of men and women in Nggele Village are divided into three parts, namely: Gender Differences, Social Status, and Age Factors. These three factors are the forerunner to the occurrence of language variations between men and women. In addition, there are significant differences related to the pattern of male and female language use, namely the pattern of topic selection, speech, style of language, and conversation dominance.
