Abstract
This study aims to determine the use of teachers’ strategy in teaching English at SMA Negeri 10 Ternate. The type of this research is qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 3 English teachers in 10 tertiary public high schools. Qualitative data is obtained by observing the teaching and learning process in the classroom.The results of this study show that the majority of English teachers use many types of cognitive strategies which is 10%, both metacognitive 8.86%, third compensation and affective 6.66% with the same average value, all four memories 5.83% And the fifth social 5.51%.
