Abstract

This study was conducted for students translating English poetry into Indonesian by Edgar Allan Poe (For My Mother). The subject of this research is a student of the English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), while the object of this research is translating English poetry into Indonesian by Edgar Allan Poe by students.. The author chose to conduct this research at FKIP Unkhair because he wanted to describe the ability of English students in translating poetry by Edgar Allan Poe. Therefore, the problem raised in this study is about how students translate English poetry into Indonesian By Edgar allan Poe (For My Mother). This study aims to find out the translation of English poetry into Indonesian by Edgar allan Poe (For My Mother). Meanwhile, the method used in this study is descriptive andlitative and accompanied by objective data collection on the results of the study. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Khairun University Ternate, whose participants were fifth semester students. Meanwhile, the data collection technique is carried out byreading and documentation. Therefore, the results showed that by using reading techniques, some students were able to translate English Poetry into Indonesian By Edgar allan Poe (For My Mother) from their respective views.
