Dimas Ulil Abshar Tauda. 2024. Training the Students’ Speaking Skill Through Question and Answer at 1st Year Students at ETC TERNATE. Thesis. (1) Susana R. Bahara, S.Pd., M.Pd and (2) Dr. Hujaefa Hi. Muhamad, S.Pd., M.Hum This study aims to determine training of students’ speaking skill through question and answer in the class. This research has been conducted on 1 year students studying at ETC Ternate. The sample of this study was a class of junior high school students consisting of 20 students. This research used pre-experimental method. The researcher used pre test, treatment, and post test. The pre test data obtained was in the form of students' initial ability in speaking, the treatment was conducted to find out the students' treatment scores whether the post test results were better than the pre test scores or not after applying question and answer. The researcher assessed students' speaking by using a scoring rubric, and processed the data using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions Software) version 22 to get the results of the pre test and post test so that the results of training students' speaking skills through Question and Answer increased significantly. This is evidenced by the average score of pre test is 66.9 and post test is 81.5 with significant value (0.000 <0.05) in 1 year students studying at ETC Ternate. In addition, Question and answer should also be applied in speaking because students understand the material more easily. Keywords: Speaking Ability, Training, Question and answer
