Abstract

The Sula Islands Regency is one of the areas full of natural resources in North Maluku. The forests in the Sula Islands Regency are still quite dense so they can produce natural wealth. Apart from that, the Sula Islands Regency is quite famous for its typical Sula honey among the people of North Maluku. It is a shame that this natural product does not have a platform for processing and marketing, so not many people know about this unique Sula honey. Based on these problems, the idea emerged to design a Bee Education Center in the Sula Islands Regency. This design uses an approach that is also environmentally friendly and does not damage the nature reserves that are guarded. The design of the Bee Education Center in the Sula Islands Regency with an Ecological Architecture approach is not only a tourist spot but also a place to learn about environmentally friendly building knowledge and can also teach the people of the Sula Islands about processing honey and cultivating beekeeping. The location for the Bee Edutourism design is located in Fat Kau Yon Village, East Sula Besi District, Sula Islands Regency. This research uses data collection techniques which are carried out by visiting the design object or location directly and paying attention to all conditions that occur in the design area or location, analyzing the data and compiling a design concept. The site has an area of approximately ± 50,000 m² and includes the entire Bee Edutourism building along with supporting facilities on land that is not contoured, seen from a geographical perspective and a spatial map of the area suitable for designing the Bee Edutourism Center. The design concept will show the results of applying the Ecological design concept to the building The Bee Tourism Edutourism Center includes the concept of site, space, mass composition, building appearance, building structure and utilities. In this way, the design of a Bee Education Education Center in Fat Kau Yon Village, East Sula Besi District, Sula Islands Regency, can be produced, using an Ecological Architecture design approach that can accommodate bee cultivation activities that can make the public aware of the Special Wealth of Sula.
