Abstract

NURMILA H. KIMILAHA WATER PUMP DESIGN USING SOLAR PANEL FOR MICROCONTROLLER BASED HYDROPONIC PLANTS Keywords: Hydroponic Plants, Air Circulation, Water Pump, Microcontroller, Solar Panel (xix + 56+Attachments) It is hoped that the use of modern electronic technology in the agricultural sector can increase agricultural production, including in the hydroponic plant cultivation sector. A microcontroller is a component of digital electronic technology that can be used to automatically control water pumps for air circulation for hydroponic plants. Apart from that, solar panel technology can also be combined into a microcontroller-based water pump control system as a source of free electrical power supply. This power source can replace the electric power supply from PLN if at any time there is a power failure. This research aims and designs a water circulation system for hydroponic plants using a water pump powered by solar energy and controlled by a microcontroller with a period of xx minutes. The method used is to assess the air circulation requirements for certain hydroponic plants for a period of time that suits the needs of the hydroponic plants. Based on the above, a microcontroller-based control system was designed to turn on and turn on the water pump within a certain period of time. From the results of designing a water pump for hydroponic plants using a solar panel electricity source to save electrical energy which activates the water pump controlled by a microcontroller during hydroponic plant water circulation activities which are determined by time, namely in the morning, afternoon and evening while at night the water pump is controlled The microcontroller is not active at night to save electrical energy on the solar panels. So testing the equipment shows that the time determined for plant circulation is 14:5 minutes when the microcontroller/Relay contacts the active water pump (ON) and 14:11 minutes when the microcontroller/Relay contacts the inactive water pump (OF).
