Abstract

Ayu Asmiarti Makian, 2024 Teachers' Perceptions of Students' Teaching Competence on the School Field Introduction (PLP II) Program at SMP Negeri 2 Ternate. Supervisor: Dr. Agus Supriyadi, M.Pd as Supervisor I and Firmansyah, S.Pd., M.Pd as supervisor II. This research aims to determine teachers' perceptions about the teaching competence of PLP students. The assessment of supervising teachers' perceptions is based on four teacher competencies, namely pedagogical competence, personality competence, professional competence and social competence. Participants in this research were 4 English education teachers at SMP Negeri 2 TERNATE. This research is a qualitative descriptive research with data collection techniques using interviews. Then, the data analysis technique uses procedures from Miles and Huberman. The research result showd that in general PLP II students have demonstrated enough competence. Regarding pedagogical competence, personality competence, social competence and professional competence, however, there are still several aspects that need to be improved, such as time management and class management. Thus, it can be concluded that the teacher's perception of the teaching competence of PPL SMP 2 Ternate students is in the enough category. These findings indicate that the PLP II program has been effective in developing most of the competencies of prospective teachers. This research has implications for improving study programs and PLP II program
