Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Tanaman jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) merupakan jenis tanaman perdu yang cukup umum ditemukan di Indonesia. Jarak pagar termasuk dalam golongan tanaman dikotil dalam keluarga Euporbeaceae dari jenus Jatropha yang secara empiris penggunaannya digunakan sebagai obat herbal. Tumbuhan jarak pagar telah diketahui mengandung senyawa kimia yaitu alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, triterpenoid, steroid, dan tanin dimana senyawa tersebut diketahui memiliki bioaktivitas sebagai antioksidan yang berfungsi menangkal radikal bebas. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui kadar total flavonoid dan aktivitas antioksidan dari daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.). Metode : Jenis penelitian eksperimental, data yang diambil berupa data primer yang diperoleh dari hasil uji laboratorium. Hasil : Penentuan kadar flavonoid total dilakukan secara spektrofotometri didasarkan pada kemampuan flavonoid membentuk kompleks dengan AlCl3 sedangkan aktivitas antioksidan ditentukan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2 difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil). Hasil penelitian diperoleh kadar flavonoid total ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar sebesar 13,459 mg QE/g kuersetin dan aktivitas antioksidan sebesar IC50 92,16 ppm. Sehingga dapat digolongkan sebagai antioksidan kuat. Kesimpulan : Daun jarak pagar ekstrak etanol 96% mengandung metabolit sekunder flavonoid berdasarkan hasil uji skrining fitokimia dan kadar flavonoid total yang terdapat pada 100 mg ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) yaitu 13,459 mg QE/g. Daun jarak pagar terbukti memiliki sifat antioksidan, sifat antioksidan terlihat dari kemampuan ekstrak soxhletasi menghambat aktivtas radikal bebas DPPH dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 92,16 ppm, dimana dari hasil tersebut termasuk dalam golongan antioksidan kuat. Jatropha belongs to a group of dicotyledonous plants in the Euporbeaceae family of the Jatropha genus which is empirically used as an herbal medicine. Jatropha plants have been known to contain chemical compounds namely alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids, steroids, and tannins where these compounds are known to have bioactivity as antioxidants that function to ward off free radicals. Aim : To determine the total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of (Jatropha curcas L.) leaves. Methods : Type of experimental research, data taken in the form of primary data obtained from laboratory test results. Result : Determination of total flavonoid content was done spectrophotometrically based on the ability of flavonoids to form complexes with AlCl3 while antioxidant activity was determined using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. The results showed that the total flavonoid content of ethanol extract of Jatropha leaves was 13.459 mg QE/g kuersetin and the antioxidant activity was IC50 92.16 ppm. So it can be classified as a strong antioxidant. Conclusion : Jatropha curcas leaf 96% ethanol extract contains flavonoid secondary metabolites based on the results of phytochemical screening tests and total flavonoid levels contained in 100 mg of Jatropha curcas leaf ethanol extract (Jatropha curcas L.) which is 13.459 mg QE/g. Jatropha curcas leaves are proven to have antioxidant properties, antioxidant properties can be seen from the ability of soxhletation extracts to inhibit DPPH free radical activity with an IC50 value of 92.16 ppm, where these results are included in the strong antioxidant group.
