Abstract
ABSTRAK Latar belakang : Cengkeh dikenal dengan nama latin Syzygium aromaticum atau Eugeni aromaticum. Yang dimana ia termasuk salah satu tanaman asli Maluku, Indonesia. Bunga cengkeh merupakan salah satu bagian tanaman cengkeh yang memiliki beberapa kandungan metabolit sekunder, salah satunya yaitu fenolik. memiliki khasiat sebagai antioksidan yang dapat meredam pertumbuhan radikal bebas. Selain kandungan fenolik adapun komponen utama yang terkandung dalam bunga cengkeh yaitu minyak atsiri, saponin, terpenoid dan juga tanin. Tujuan : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar total fenolik dan nilai IC₅₀ ekstrak metanol bunga cengkeh yang berasal dari Desa Wailoba, Kecamatan Mangoli Tengah, Kabupaten Kepulauan Sula, Provinsi Maluku Utara. Metode : Penentuan kadar total fenolik menggunakan metode Follin-Coicalteu dan penentuan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1- picrihidrazyl). Hasil : Ekstrak Metanol bunga cengkeh memiliki kadar total fenolik yaitu sebesar 25,281 mg/GAE/g, kemudian untuk nilai aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak metanol bunga cengkeh sebesar 62,545 ppm. nilai tersebut termasuk dalam kategori antioksidan kuat karena memiliki nilai IC₅₀ lebih dari 50 ppm. Sedangkan pada nilai aktivitas antioksidan larutan pembanding yaitu vitamin C dengan hasil yang didapat 8,295 ppm, yang tergolong dalam kategori antioksidan sangat kuat dengan nilai IC50 pada range kurang dari 50 ppm. Kesimpulan : Ekstrak metanol bunga cengkeh memiliki kandungan metabolit sekunder yaitu fenolik dengan nilai persentase total yang tinggi. Serta aktivitas antioksidan yang termasuk dalam golongan kuat dalam meredam radikal bebas. CLOVE FLOWERS METHANOL EXTRACT FROM THE SULA ARCHIPELAGO Humairah M.M. Nur1, Eri Marwati1, Fahmi Saddik1 Pharmacy Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Khairun University ABSTRACT Introduction : Cloves are known by the Latin name Syzygium aromaticum or Eugeni aromaticum. Which is one of the native plants of Maluku, Indonesia. Clove flowers are one part of the clove plant that contains several secondary metabolites, one of which is phenolic. has properties as an antioxidant that can reduce the growth of free radicals. Apart from the phenolic content, the main components contained in clove flowers are essential oils, saponins, terpenoids and also tannins. Aim : This research was conducted to determine the total phenolic content and IC₅₀ value of methanol extract of clove flowers originating from Wailoba Village, Central Mangoli District, Sula Islands Regency, North Maluku Province. Methods : Determination of total phenolic content using the Follin-Coicalteu method and determination of antioxidant activity using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1- picrihidrazyl) method. Result : Methanol extract of clove flowers has a total phenolic content of 25.281 mg GAE/g, then the antioxidant activity value of methanol extract of clove flowers is 62.545 ppm. This value is included in the strong antioxidant category because it has an IC₅₀ value of more than 50 ppm. Meanwhile, the antioxidant activity value of the comparison solution is vitamin C with results obtained at 8.295 ppm, which is classified as a very strong antioxidant with an IC50 value in the range of less than 50 ppm. Conslucion : Methanol extract of clove flowers contains secondary metabolites, namely phenolics, with a quite large total percentage value. As well as antioxidant activity which is included in the strong group in reducing free radicals.
