Thesis, English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Arts Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Khairun. Research Supervisor (I) Dr. Drs. Sutaryo, M.Ed. TESOL. M.Ed and Supervisor (II) Yetty, S.S., M.Hum. The purpose of this study is to determine the occurrence of cultural acculturation process in the movie “The Joy Luck Club”. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative method using Hermeneutic approach. The main data source is the translation of The Joy Luck Club movie and the secondary data sources are libraries, internet sites, essays, articles, journals, and all things printed, which are related to the research. The data analysis technique in this study consists of listening, interpreting, clarifying, classifying, explaining, and concluding. The results showed that researcher found nine scenes containing cultural acculturation contained in the movie The Joy Luck Club. The acculturation found is cultural acculturation, this refers to how cultural acculturation is described in the movie The Joy Luck Club through dialog or characters in this movie. In addition, researcher also found that the cultural acculturation described in this movie is how efforts to familiarize with the culture obtained and not let go of the original culture applied at that time starting from language, food, residence, clothing, habits, relationships, values and norms, beliefs and attitudes though.
