Abstract

Grammatical Errors in the Students’ Thesis Abstracts at the English Language Education Study Program Khairun University. English Language Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Khairun University. Advisors: Dr. Drs. Sutaryo, M. Ed., TESOL, M. Ed1, Saiful Latif, S. Pd., M. Hum2. This study aims to see the types of students’ grammatical errors in writing thesis abstracts at the English Language Education Study Programs of Khairun University. This research focuses on Grammatical mistakes, including subject and verb agreement, articles, prepositions, word order, word choices, punctuations, spellings, capitalizations, and pronouns, at the English Language Education Program of Khairun University. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach which is included in linguistic research. The research focused on thesis abstracts written by students from the English Language Study Program in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education 2022. The study analyzed five selected thesis abstracts. The reading technique used is to read the abstracts of the selected English language education study program students repeatedly and carefully. The results of this research from the highest errors to the lowest are, subject, and verb agreement (30%), Article (24%), Spelling (11%), pronunciation and word order (8%), word choice (7%), Preposition (5%), capitalization (4%), and pronoun (3%).
