Abstract
The purpose of this research is to describe the form, meaning, meaning, denotation and connotation in the lyrics of togal.poetry is meant here, some are in the form of rhymes and some are in the form of poetry. The theories used in this study are (1) semiotic understanding, (2) denotation meaning, (3) connotation meaning. The data analysis technique used in this research is, first, to describe the togal lyrics which have the meaning of denotation and connotation Then the type of research used is to use the qualitative description method to analyze and collect data, namely by the following methods: (1) listening to each lyric or expression conveyed in the togal lyrics (2) conducting a library study to obtain the language that makes the guideline literature material for the researcher (3) determine which parts have the meaning of the denotation and connotation. Based on the analysis of the data, it can then describe the denotation meaning of the togal lyrics about the life of the world related to nature and humans, the relationship of mothers with children and humans with the gods mentioned and the form of words in each lyric and also some objects such as weapons, poison, sun, uterine doors, love, and stars where it is explained in the lyrics that it has other profound meanings. Then the meaning of the connotation is to explain about things or other forms of words that have other meanings such as the weapon in question is a weapon that human nature, namely Faith and patience are mandatory for everyone, and the poison referred to here is Commitment in a Love relationship which as a result can kill Love in every relationship Then the sun here is someone who is always there But now There is no longer a face and the door of the womb here is a mother's indement with children who cannot be separated except death, as for the meaning of the connotation that we see from the point of view of life, namely there are many problems in life, both small and big problems and must be faced well such as having patience, Honestly, and it is also necessary to prepare before facing a storm that is more difficult than before.
