ABSTRACT Arianto Nawawi, 2025. Efforts to Improve Reading Comprehension Ability Using the DRA (Directed Reading Activity) Model in Grade IV Students of SD Negeri 102 Halmahera Selatan. Supervisors: Dr. Samsu Somadayo S.Pd., M.Pd, Asri Tamalene, S.Pd., M.Pd Low reading comprehension skills will affect students' learning outcomes in a subject. Therefore, to obtain high learning outcomes, students must have good reading comprehension skills. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' abilities, understand teacher activities, and understand student activities in the DRA (Directed Reading Activity) model learning process. This research is a qualitative type of Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach. Data collection techniques include document studies, observations, questionnaires, and tests. Based on data analysis, efforts to improve reading comprehension skills using the DRA (Directed Reading Activity) model in Grade IV students of SD Negeri 102 Halmahera Selatan. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results show that the use of the DRA (Directed Reading Activity) model can improve students' reading comprehension, as evidenced by test questions in the Indonesian language subject. In the Indonesian language learning process, teacher and student activities in cycle I have low percentages for both, 58.3% and 61.7%, respectively. Meanwhile, in cycle II, there was a significant increase, with teachers at 85.5% and students at 76.4%. Furthermore, reading comprehension skills in cycle I had a student percentage of 25%, while in cycle II, student learning outcomes increased again by 87.5%, with 14 out of 16 Grade IV students of SD Negeri 102 Halmahera Selatan completing. Thus, in cycle II, students' reading comprehension was considered successful when reaching a minimum mastery criterion of 70.
