Abstract
ABSTRACK Bugis. A, Masita. 2019. Students’ Competence in Pronounciaction Similar Sounds of Words at English Language Eduction Study Program of Khairun University. Advisor (I) Dr. Drd. Sutaryo, M.Ed TESOL., M.Ed (II) Saiful Latif, S.Pd., M. Hum The objective of this research is to find out students’ competence pronuncing similar sound of English words of students at the third semester of English Language Education Study Program at Khairun University. The research applied qualitative method, There were 23 respondents involved in this research and every respondent was asked to read the sentence in which there were words that have similr sounds in three minutes. The results of this study show that from 23 respondents there are nine respondent in very good pronounciation. Five respondents have good pronounciation, five respondents in sufficient pronounciation and four respondents in poor pronounciation. Students competence in pronouncing similar sounds of words are sufficient based on the students mean score 76.60. thus, on overage students’ pronounciation of similar sounds at the third semester at Khairun University is sufficient Keywords: Competence, Pronunciation of the similar sounds
