Abstract
Efelin Klamensi May. 06212011085.Social Conflict In The Novel “The Outsiders” By S.E.Hinton. (Literary Socioogycal Approach). English Dapartment. Faculty of Cultural Sciences. University of Khairun Ternate 2024. Under the graduance of Drs, Fachmi Alhadar,M.Hum and Rudi S Tawari, S.S.,M.Hum). The novel „The Outsiders‟ by S.E.Hinton depicts a clear social conflict between two groups of teenagers from different social classes, the Greasers and the Socs. The story follows the life of Ponyboy Curtis, a Greaser trying to deal with social stigma and injustice. The conflicts are not only physical, but also emotional, reflecting the struggle for identity and the search for a place in society, in the novel „The Outsiders‟ by S.E.Hinton. This study was researched because in the novel the issue of social conflict is the most prominent and interesting to study. This research is seen from the Qualitative Descriptive Method used to examine the novel „The Outsiders‟ because this research is in the form of literature or focuses on the narrative, namely the novel. Researchers use a sociological approach in this analysis because the phenomenon focuses on the relationship between individuals, groups, and social structures in society. And also this approach studies how social, cultural, and economic contexts affect human behaviour and interactions between groups. The results of research on social conflict in the novel „The Outsiders‟ show the tension between Greasers and Socs due to class differences. Social stigma affects the identity of each group and causes conflict. Friendship among Greasers helps them overcome challenges, while some Socs begin to understand their struggles. However, violence often occurs due to social injustice. Key words: Social class, conflict, Injustice, Economic, Competition
