ABDULLAH, AYURINDI. 2025, Students’ Difficulties in Using Noun Phrases. English Language Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Khairun University. Advisor. (I) Drs. Taib Latif, M.Hum, (II) Susana R, Bahara,S.Pd.,MPd, BI. This study aims to identify the difficulties experienced by third semester students of English Education Study Program of Khairun University in translating nominal phrases from Indonesian to English. This study used descriptive research method. The subjects of this study consisted of 28 students. Data collection was taken through tests and interviews. The results showed that the difficulties of 3rd semester students of English Education Study Program of Khairun University Ternate in using noun phrases consisted of the main factors, namely limited vocabulary and difficulties in composing the right sentences, the methods used in translating and students' understanding of noun phrases which are still very low. This can be seen from the presentation of students' success in completing phrases made in Indonesian texts then translated into English from 5 questions given, the presentation of students' success in answering correctly only reached 29.2% while the error rate in translating noun phrases by students was quite high, which amounted to 70.8%. This shows that they have difficulty in using noun phrases. Keywords: Translation Difficulties, Phrase, Vocabulary.
