(First advisor) Dr. Hujaefa Hi. Muhamad, S. Pd., M. Hum and (Second Advisor) Abdulhalim Daud, S. Pd., M. Pd. Vocabulary mastery is one of the important aspects in English language learning, especially for young learners. Teaching vocabulary is often be a challenge for teachers. This study aims to find out the techniques used by teachers in teaching English vocabulary to students at SMP Negeri 1 Kota Ternate. The research method used was qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interview, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with two English teachers to get in-depth information about the teaching techniques applied. The results showed that teachers used a variety of techniques, including discussions techniques, games techniques, pictures/videos techniques, question and answer techniques and storytelling techniques. Discussion techniques encourage active interaction between students, while pictures and videos help visualize vocabulary. Storytelling creates an interesting context, making it easier for students to remember new vocabulary. Games increase student motivation and engagement, while question and answer techniques are used to evaluate student understanding. In applying these techniques, teachers need to pay attention to several important aspects, such as individualized approaches, student character recognition, and student learning profiles. It can be concluded that the variety of teaching techniques applied by teachers in teaching vocabulary. This research is expected to contribute to the development of English language teaching techniques. Keywords: Teaching techniques, Vocabulary, Young learners.
