Abstract
ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Tanaman Pala (Myristica fragrans) merupakan tanaman endemik di Maluku Utara. Tanaman ini dapat diuji melalui komponen buahnya seperti daging, fuli, tempurung dan biji. Bagian buah pala terutama fuli merupakan bagian pala yang diteliti. Fuli pala pun dikenal memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi. Fuli pala dapat dijadikan produk minyak atsiri yang mana masih jarang ditemukan pengujian tentang seperti apa kualitas dan kuantitas serta uji aktivitas antioksidan yang terkandung pada fuli pala itu sendiri, khususnya minyak atsiri fuli pala yang berasal dari kota Ternate. Tujuan : Mengetahui kualitas minyak atsiri dan daya aktivitas antioksidan dari minyak atsiri dari fuli buah pala (Myristica fragrans) metode DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1 picrylhydrazyl). Metode : Jenis penelitian eksperimental, data yang diambil berupa data primer yang diperoleh dari hasil uji laboratorium Hasil : Uji standarisasi minyak atsiri fuli pala telah dilakukan dengan hasil organoleptik, bobot jenis, kelarutan dalam etanol, putaran optic, dan sisa penguapan yang terstandarisasi. Sedangkan aktivitas antioksidan yang dimiliki minyak atsiri fuli pala menunjukan aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 514,218 µg/mL yang tergolong antioksidan lemah. Kesimpulan : Kualitas minyak atsiri fuli pala asal kota Ternate terstandarisasi dan memiliki daya aktivitas antioksidan yang lemah. Kata Kunci : Antioksidan, Fuli Pala, Minyak Atsiri, Tanaman Pala. STANDARDIZATION TEST OF ESSENTIAL OILS AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF NUTMEG MACE (Myristica fragrans) FROM TERNATE CITY USING AN DPPH METHOD Putri Salwa1, Fahmi Sadik1, Ismail Rahman1 1Pharmacy Major, Faculty of Medicine, Khairun University. ABSTRACT Introduction : The nutmeg plant (Myristica fragrans) is an endemic plant in North Maluku. This plant can be tested through its fruit components such as flesh, mace, shell and seeds. The nutmeg part, especially mace, is the part of the nutmeg that was studied. Nutmeg mace is also known to have high economic value. Nutmeg mace can be used as an essential oil product and it is still rare to find tests on the quality and quantity as well as antioxidant activity tests contained in the nutmeg mace itself, especially the essential oil of nutmeg mace who based from Ternate city. Aim : To determine the quality of essential oils and the antioxidant activity of essential oils from nutmeg mace (Myristica fragrans) using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl 1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Methods : This type of experimental research, the data taken is primary data obtained from laboratory test results Results : The standardization test for nutmeg mace essential oil has been carried out with the organoleptic results, specific gravity, solubility in ethanol, optical rotation, and remaining evaporation being standardized. Meanwhile, the antioxidant activity of mace nutmeg essential oil shows antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 514.218 µg/mL which is classified as a weak antioxidant. Conclusion : The quality of mace essential oil from the Ternate city is standardized and has weak antioxidant activity. Keywords : Antioxidant, Essential Oil, Nutmeg Mace, Nutmeg Plant.
