Abstract
This research focuses on figures of speech (figure of speech) using Zulaichah's theory which poets express in their songs, by outlining the supporting elements for literary works to achieve a good analysis. Researchers want to analyze figures of speech such as metaphors, hyperbole and allusions. In this research, the method used by the researcher is a qualitative method because the researcher considers it very supportive in this research. The qualitative method is a method in the form of text, because a word is part of a text and is related to the object in an analysis. This research uses Zulaichah's approach. The results of this research are that researchers were able to find types of "figure of speech", the meaning of representation and something interesting in the figurative in three songs performed by George Michael. In the first song, he describes his fear by using the typography of the sun setting on my face. The second song tells about cruelty, murder and love. The third song shows a story of love and separation, about a woman who was deeply loved in the past. The poet presents a figure of speech to givea powerful effect to the lyrics in the song so that it can captivate the listener. In the song lyrics, the poet expresses his feelings and imagination about love, life, separation and death. There are several figures of speech in it such as metaphor, hyperbole and allusion. To present figurative language in each song lyric, poets use it in various ways. In essence, every song lyric is examined by the author of the work. In the songs sung by George Michael, figurative language is not always displayed. However, metaphors, hyperbole and allusion are more dominant in song lyrics. Keywords: zulachah, song lyrics, figurative language.
