Abstract
This study aims to improve the students’ vocabulary by using Audio-Visual media in SMP Negeri 2 Kota Ternate. The researcher applied a quantitative method with Pre-Experimental using One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design to obtain data using pre-test, treatment, and post-test instruments, and analyzed data using t-test with a significant level of 0.01. There were 32 students who involved in this study, They watched the Video, and then tried to understand every word in the video. Statistically, the results of this study indicate that using Audio-Visual as media significantly improves students’ vocabulary with a t-test statistical value (5.56) which is higher than the critical value (2,457) with df at a significant level of 0.01. This shows that the use of Audio-Visual media significantly improves students’ vocabularies. Keywords: Audio- visual media, Vocabulary
