Abstract

Kalsum Jufri, 2024. Improving Students’ Speaking Skill Through Simulation Method At SMA Negeri 10 Kota Ternate, under the guidance of Dr. Hujaefa Hi. Muhammad, .S.Pd., M.Hum as a first advisor and Hamida A. Jasin, S.Pd., M.Pd as a second advisor. The objective of this research was to know the implementation of simulation method in improving students’ speaking skill at X grade of SMAN 10 Kota Ternate. The kind of this research referred to quantitative research by using pre experimental design consisted of two steps in applying simulation method, pre test and post-test. The researcher took one class as a sample to analyse the data. The class consisted of 30 students at class X of SMA Negeri 10 Kota Ternate. The result of the research indicated that the implementation of simulation method in the process of teaching and learning English was effective to improve the students’ speaking skill. The students made a good improvement in pronunciation, fluency, and accuracy during the process of speaking. Based on the data analysis, the implementation of simulation method could improve students’ speaking skill of SMA Negeri 10 Kota Ternate. In the step of pre-test, the students obtained 1414.00 score, post-test was 2426.67, t-test 2.682 and t-table was 1.669. Therefore, it can be stated that the score of post-test was higher than pre-test. Keyword: Speaking skill and simulation method
