Abstract
Many students at SMA IT Nurul Hasan Ternate have difficulties in writing.. They have various obstacles such as lack of motivation, vocabulary, and confusion in determining writing ideas. Based on these problems, the researcher applied the Magic Card media in students' writing learning activities. The purpose of this study was to find out the significant improvement of using Magic Card to teach descriptive wiritng online at SMA IT Nurul Hasan Ternate. This study used quantitative research method using a pre-experimental research design. The study population were the first grade students of SMA IT Nurul Hasan Ternate with 33 students. The research sample consisted of 15 students. The data collection instrument was test (pretest and posttest). Then all the data were analyzed by using the t test formula.The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in the students' ability to write using Magic Cards with the average posttest score obtained is 71.33. The results of statistical analysis with a significance level of 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) 14 show that the t-test value (3.59) is higher than the t-table (2.145). This suggests that the use of Magic Card significantly improves students’ descriptive writing at SMA IT Nurul Hasan.
