Abstract

This research aims to find out what kind of woman’s rebellion Kesha represents in her song and what are the factors that make Kesha describe the rebellion in her song. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques start from identification, classification, categorization and finally the analysis related to rebellion contained in Kesha’s selected songs. To analyze these three songs by Kesha, the researcher use feminism approach. Data analysis using Andrea Dworkin’s theory. The main aspects of Andrea Dworkin’s radical feminist theory, especially rebellion are Violence against Women, Objectification and Pornography, Patriarchy as a System, Women’s Solidarity, and Social Transformation. Based on the results of the analysis, the researcher found the rebellion of women, are: 1). Social Rebellion, It refers to lyrics that challenge social norms or power structures that exist in society at large. 2). Personal Rebellion that focuses on an individual experience and a person’s personal struggle in expressing her identity or opposing feelings of limitation or personal oppression. The researcher also found out the factor in describing rebellion in Kesha song, are: 1). Embracing freedom and self-assertion, and 2). Reject social conformity and social expectations. From the results of the analysis above, the researcher found that Kesha described rebellion in her song because Kesha wanted her listeners to be able to express a desire to free themselves from social norms that hinder individual freedom and find strength in celebrating their own identity without fear or shame. Some of the problems above can be found through analysis using a feminism approach, especially radical feminism with Andrea Dworkin’s theory.
