Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the types of general, special, and function of conversational implicature in students at English Education Study Programme of Khairun University. The approach used in this research is qualitative content analysis. (1) The purpose of this study is to find out the types and functions of conversation implicature used by Student at English Study Programme. (2) The method of this research was qualitative. (3) The data sources were taken from the conversations of the students of English Education Study Programme in the first semester of class A. (4) Technique of collecting data. (5) The data analysis techniques in this research are: (1) data collection; (2) data reduction; (3) data display; and (4) conclusion. The results of this study show that special conversational implicature dominates in student conversations, which is as much as 11 data. Then, the general implicature data is 6 data. In addition,the conversation implicature functions used by studens are, the function of interrogative implicature is eleven data, the function of declarative implicature is six data, and the function of expressive implicature is one data. The total amount of data is 17 conversations. Keywords: Implicature, conversation, implicature function.
