There were twenty students in the X A grade at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Ternate who made up the research sample. Participating in this study process are they, the students. In order to help students learn how to write descriptive texts, they are first given an overview of descriptive text writing, assigned to read one of the writings, and then given the assignment to write a descriptive text. The study's findings demonstrated that SMA Negeri 3 Kota Ternate students' vii proficiency in writing descriptive texts using problem-based learning (PBL) is in the good range. Regarding the grades that the students received, the test results clearly show that the post-test result was greater than the pretest result. The degree of freedom 19 and the significant level at 0.05 show that t-test 19.0 is greater than t-table 1.729. This implies that the alternative hypothesis (Hi)—which holds that employing problem-based learning can greatly enhance students' text descriptive abilities—is true.
