Abstract
Nurna Syit Taher. 2024. The Analysis of The Characters in The Novel “We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart (Viewed From Objective Approach), (Supervised by Farida Maricar and Ikmal Muhammad). This study aims to describe the characters in the novel and the moral values obtained from these characters. In the novel “We Were Liars” the researcher focuses on three characters and what moral values are obtained after analyzing the three characters. In analyzing in the novel, the researcher uses a descriptive analysis method in which the author describes the facts in the novel and then analyzes them. The researcher uses an objective approach to help the author in analyzing the elements in the novel which are character and moral values. In addition to the approach used to analyze, researchers also use other theories to help, namely the theory of character and characterization, and the theory of moral values. The results of the research conducted are, first, a character analysis where researcher analyze three characters who play an important role in the novel. The first character is Cadence who is described as a dramatic, rebellious girl, but also a girl who never gives up. Gat is the second character, described as a critical, caring, and insecure man. And the last character is Harris. He is portrayed as Dominant and Arrogant towards people he considers different. The second analysis is the moral values in the novel is the importance of Family in life . Keywords: Characters, Moral Values, and Objective
