Agung Sugiarto S, 2024 The Use of Task-Based Learning Method to Improve Students’ Vocabulary at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Ternate. English Education Study Program Khairun University. Advisor (I) Anwar Ismail S.Pd.,M.Hum. (II) Dr. Agus Supriadi S.Pd., M.Pd. The purpose of this research was to see the extent to which using Task-Based Learning Method significantly develops students' vocabulary at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Ternate. This research used a quantitative method by using pre-experimental design. The research sample involved of 30 students of class VIII C. The instrument of this research is pretest and posttest to collect data. The results of this research indicate that the posttest average score is 75.97 higher than the pretest average score of 50.0. The data shows that the average ability of students’ vocabulary is still poor before using the Task-Based Learning Method. The t-test value of 9.748 is higher than the t-table value of 1.699 at a significant level of 0.05 with 29 degrees of freedom. This means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. In conclusion, the use of Task-Based Learning Method is effective in improving students' vocabulary, since there is a significant difference between students vocabulary score before and after using Task-Based Learning Method.
