Abstract

Luli Fahira Hi Rusdi 2024. Social Criticism Analysis in “Animals” Album by Pink Floyd (Viewed From Sociological Approach), (Suppervised by Sulmi Magfirah and Bakhtiar Majid). The purpose of the research is to analyze the criticism of social conditions contained in the song lyrics in Pink Floyd's "Animals" and identify which emotional attitudes are reflected in the song lyrics of the "Animals" album. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods to explain data and analysis. And using sociological literature approach. This research data describes social criticism in social society and analyzes the attitude of the "Animals" album using Krech & Richard attitude theory towards the "Animals" album. The results of the data and analysis of this study found that; 1) the album "Animals" implied criticism of conditions in the form of social classes consisting of the upper class; Pigs and Dogs the ruling class and the lower class Sheep representing the weak class. Capitalism contains the most dominant class found on the “Animals” album in the song “Pigs” and “Dogs”. 2) this study also found the author emotional attitudes from the lyrics of the songs "Pigs", "Dogs" and "Sheep" in the form of protests using the affective component (feelings) of the three songs: disappointment from society, cruelty, feeling of fears. And the cognitive component (belief) of knowledge about the situation of the three songs: criticizing the movement of Mary Whitehouse, the loss of public trust, and the situation of freedom of the lower class.
